Russell Crowe Death Rumors Were Untrue

A South Florida radio station ran a story earlier this morning claiming that actor Russell Crowe fell 50-feet while rock climbing in Austria, where he is currently filming his latest project. Ever since the radio station unveiled the story, rumors have been circulating on the World Wide Web alleging that the 46-year-old Academy Award winning actor passed away as a result of the fall.

However, a representative for Crowe has informed Us Magazine that the rumors about his death are not true. Authorities in Austria have kept details surrounding the alleged rock climbing incident close to the vest, but they did confirm that he was filming a scene in the remote area of Kitzuhel when he inadvertently fell off the side of a mountain.

Since media sources have yet to confirm whether or not the actor was wearing a harness during the scene to protect himself from a potential accident, Crowe’s physical condition is unknown at this time. The false rumors about his death have spread like wildfire over the past few hours, and the news became a trending topic on Twitter earlier today.

Crowe’s upcoming film The Next Three Days has a November 19 theatrical release. He has been nominated for an Academy Award on three separate occasions and he won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Gladiator in 2001.
